Steve Pearce and I are hoping to run a campaign for the New Year in WW1 1/144 AIRCRAFT from the
Wings of War set.

The first " open" play is 9th November and the second will be 7th December. This will
introduce the game for people who have not played before.

Sign up for the British or Germans can be done up until the 7th December.

This campaign is not being run as an " every sunday " game, major team play will be set when we
start the campaign, but individual play can be when ever.

See Steve or myself.

Hi Gary

I'm interested, but roughly how often would I need to play?

Cheers

At this moment , I would say that a major meet ( both sides total team ) would be once in 5
sundays.

But individual play can be whenever.

Hi Gary,
Did you mean Chris Pearse rather than Steve Pearse? I've never seen Steve play Wings of War, whereas I know Chris is really into it.

Hi Ralph, lol no I do mean Steve Pearce. He had bought some kit a few weeks ago and fancied it. So we talked about a Campaign and we have started doing some " open" days ( last sunday). We will be doing another " open" day for people to learn etc on 7th December.

So far we have 17 people signed on for the game on various sides.

Hi Readers

Sundays " open" day went well with a number of new players being introduced to the game.
Dave P, Del, John S, with other players participating like Kev S and many watching the days play.

Fun was had by all and we are looking forward to the next " open" day 7th December and if
people who are signed up wish to give signs for Brits or German please let us know.

A quick question on the rules - My rules say that when firing, be sure to take the damage cards from a deck whose letter matches the red one on the plane. The rules came with card representations of different planes, so that you didn't have to play with models. Some of these cards have red A's and some red B's. I presume this means that different planes were armed differently and could therefore inflict more damage (which makes sense). However the damage pack of cards only contains A's, meaning that you couldn't use some of the plane cards in the box anyway. Now I find that two of the models that I purchased are B's, and only one an A. Does this mean that I have to purchase another set of damage cards from somewhere, or am I missing something?

Hi Ralph

Yes, some aircraft use damage pack B...therefore you need some B cards. I will find out if I casn find some you can print off.

Thanks Gary. Any chance you could e-mail me something that I could use for Thursday night? I have ordered another set of the rules that contains damage packs for A, B, C, and D, but am unlikely to receive it in time, so was going to use A for the game, but having B would be preferable.

Another thing that now occurs to me is that there must be a 'correct' ratio for all the different values of damage within the pack and for all the special effects such as jammed guns and hits on the rudder. Also, as you increase the number of planes involved in a game, there is bound to come a time when you do not have enough damage cards. Shouldn't it therefore be possible to buy packs of the cards, with the correct proportions of values within them, without having to purchase the entire set of rules again? As the plane models are purchased separately, it is easy to build up a squadron of aircraft and then find you don't have the correct cards, or don't have enough to play a game with more than around four aircraft involved.

I would like to take part, if possible. I have just purchased a FW 190 aircraft - but that is WW2!

I have played such games before.

Cheers,

Richard.

Hi All
Just to keep you all up to date.

Sunday the 7th is our next " Training day " EVERYONE is welcome.
If numbers are generous we may go to 2 tables 1. for beginers and the other
for people who have played but who we will introduce to the height rules
and other markers.

If you have not picked a side , this will be the last time to choose.

PICK WISELY GRASSHOPPER. :cheer: ;)

I probably favour the Brits, being a fan of Biggles books in my youth! Don't really mind though.
