Wargames competitions have been a feature of the PAW shows since 2000.

PAW 2019 had five: one science fiction, one fantasy, one WWII and two Ancients.

Art de la Guerre

The Art del Guerre competition represented the 25mm part of the Ancients period, with some excellent armies on show.

There was a good turn out, with 14 players - although two more had to pull out because bad weather prevented them travelling to Plymouth.

Field of Glory

The 15mm Ancients game was represented by Field of Glory.  Ten players made it to Plymouth, and they all seemed to have a great time. Even more fine looking armies were on display.

Bolt Action

Our World War II offering, this was a smaller competition, but included some very nicely painted forces, playing over good-looking scenery.

Kings of War

Another smaller competition, Kings of War covered the Fantasy portion of the hobby. Many armies featured Fantastic Beasts of one sort or another as their focal points.

Warhammer 40K

By far the largest competition at 44 players, and the largest turnout for any of our competitions for several years, WH40K provided players with a science fiction option.

The armies in use frequently included towering War Machines, that dominated the tabletop.  There were some stunning examples of painting amongst these armies.
