Tournaments

PAW 2016 had a larger than usual range of tournaments, since we were trying out some new ones, with a view to widening the range of games we cover.  Here are the PAW 2016 trophy winners.

Bolt Action

Thanks to Ron Leacy, who stepped up to umpire this event.  First place went to Ian Crosswaite, with Japanese.  Second to Paul Buller, using American.  Best Army went to Kevin Ingram, for his British, and Gary Rich was awarded Most Sporting Player

Field of Glory

Still a popular rule set, there were both 15mm and 25mm competitions.  Thanks to Steve Brown for umpiring

The 15mm competition was won by Les Shuttlewood, with Neo-Assyrian, and Dave Morrison was second, using Malay.  Best Army went to Andy Whitby, for his Yorkists

The 25mm winner was Richard Jeffrey-Cook, using Early Successor Greek, and Paul Bartlett was second, with Later Republican Romans.  Best Army was awarded to Steve Hacker, for his Post Roman British

Kings of War

Kings of War is fairly recent ruleset, making its first appearance as a tournament at PAW. Our thanks to David Mason for volunteering as umpire. The winner was Mark Nicholas, second was Stuart Confrey. Best Army also went to Mark Nicholas.

Warband

A new ruleset, which we tried out for the first time at PAW.  Thanks to Keith McGlynn for umpiring.  First place went to Steve Price, second to Mark Fry.  Best Army was awarded to Kev Jackson, and the Umpire's Prize to Charley WalkbySteve Price was also presented with the Duncan Aynsley Memorial Trophy from his local club. 

Warmachine

This was a new tournament for PAW, but was popular with onlookers, so it has been decided to try it again in 2017.  The winner was Andrew Brown, and second was Ashley Phillips

Warhammer 40K

Many thanks to Jay Court and Lee Stubbs for umpiring this competition.  The winner was Nathan Martin, with Ultramarines/Iron Hands, second was Thomas Jackson, using Necrons/Tyranids.  Tom Bunnell was awarded Best Army for his Chaos Demons. 

Warhammer Fantasy Battles

The winner was Rob Farmer, using Wood Elves, and Dan Wells was second with Vampires.  Best Army was awarded to Tom Farely for his Dark Elves.  Many thanks to Steven Connell for Umpiring.

X-Wing Dogfights

Another new ruleset for PAW shows, this one attracted a large entry for a new, one-day competition.  Many thanks to Rob Angell and James from Kirton Games for running this competition.  Kurt Baker was first and Tom Ross was second.
